Last Week’s Instagram

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. The pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

  1. “The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades”
Shiny, convoluted, devoid of human figures, vaguely menacing – – hard to believe this isn’t a set for a dystopian sci-fi movie. Very effective photo.

  2. My mom liked industrial images. She had several taken of my dad’s plant, and I think they talked about her putting some in a painting some day, but that never happened. We, their kids, still have the photos up in Dad’s den. Industry can look pretty interesting, especially if you focus in on some of the details. Some of my favorite shots have been inside submarines, of all the gadgets there…sort of a similar feeling.

    1. Industrial areas does have much to offer for the keen photographer (although this is not industri, but rather a business area). I am not sure what all the pipes and chimneys are used for.

  3. Glorious, Otto! I love all that metal gleaming in the sunlight. We have a few industrial places locally that I love to go to and snap away. This is wonderful.

  4. It’s as though all the support structures for modern urban life — the structures that usually remain hidden — have suddenly taken center stage, forcing us to look at what’s required for our civilized lives. I’m not willing to give up air conditioning or modern sanitation, but a non-romanticized image like this can be salutary.

  5. I am in awe, as I always am, of how you are able to bring such clarity and detail to your photos. This one demonstrates your skill so beautifully. It’s a wonderful photo, Otto.
