Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. The pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.
Downhill’s almost always easier than uphill. I’d title this one “Sisyphus, Released.”
You are right, even for the smallest of hills.
Perspective is always so individual! My first thoughts – On Top of the World.
And the person in the back has the hair outline of a manga character 😊
I do see the manga. LOL. And you are so very right, perspective is indeed very individual.
A beautiful photograph, my initial impression is of man’s journey through life in search of the unknown. I was also reminded of 2001 A Space Odyssey Relating to prehistoric man.
I love all the different interpretations. This one is great. Thanks, Holly.
It’s a wonderful photo inspiring so many impressions !
Yes, my first reaction was similar to House of Heart – – that often-parodied “March of Progress” or “The Road to Homo Sapiens” illustration, showing primates gradually getting taller and more upright. (But please don’t share that with the climber who is stooped a bit! 🙂 ) I really like the all-black silhouettes over the colorful sky.
The difference between the two characters are striking and sure does look like an evolutionary process. Thanks for comment, Robert.
Love everything about this photo
Thank you, Dale.
I really like this one, the sky and the silhouettes, lovely.
I am happy you do. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.
cool silhouette!

Thank you, Graham.
How wonderful, a dream.
Ciao, Patrizia
Thank you, Patrizia.
Wonderful, as always.
Thank you so much.
Stunning
Thank you, Paula.
The image has many possible stories, and its imagery inspires them.
I happy you think so. Thanks a lot, Sally.
The fact, that the hiker on the right has his right foot lifted to make the next step, kind of still up in the air, to me makes this image even more striking. Brilliant image, Otto.
For me that foot in the air is very important, as well as the more obvious and different postures of the two. 🙂
Indeed.
A good photo, telling a story.Our imagination can work…
That’s what we hope, isn’t it…
very ‘peter pan’ type of image! it’s magical xoxox
I agree there is something of a fairytale mood about it.
Otto, I love sillouette photos. They are often not so posed and more spontaneous, this photo has also such a beautiful background with the sunlight slowly fading. Beautiful!,
Thank you for the lovely words, Gilda.
Wonderful photo Otto
Thanks a lot, Roland.
Following is good, leading issue challenging. Not many can be Messi. People are pulled down most of the time. Simple life is what one need, though he may be lucky.
A simple life makes it easier to be happier, no?
This photo seems very calming to me. It is kind of like that classic ET shot with the kids on the bike and ET in the carrier case and they seem to be flying off in silhouette.
I can see that. Thanks, Michelle.
I think this is wonderful Otto .. the journey is just beginning 🙂
Indeed so. 🙂
Great silhouette image … love it!
Thank you, Denise.
Hello, wonderful photo
Thank you, Roland.
this is fantastic
i visited your site last week and couldn’t get the pics to load. i don’t know if it was on my end or yours. odd how that works recently. i’m guessing there is some monitoring going on that is new. (it wasn’t the cookies, as i accepted them)
I honestly have no idea. When I open the page, even in a browser that I don’t usually use, the photo loads as it’s supposed to. But thanks for letting me know. I will monitor the next couple of week and see if anything changes.
Absolutely wonderful image Otto.
Thank you, Helen.
