Last Week’s Instagram

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. The pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

  1. I see Lynn commented on the off-kilter horizon, I think it contributes to an interesting sense of eeriness and unease, a dark city under a lowering/glowering sky.

  2. Otto, I’m a devotee of Scandinavian crime/thriller novels (as well as of Norwegian composers, as you already know 🙂 ). There’s one author (Jo Nesbø, I believe) who writes about Bergen. One novel was called Snömannen and was really creepy. This picture should be on the cover of one of those books!!!

  3. When I first glanced at the photo, I saw the foreground as a trash heap — much like those cities of trash in Delhi or Cairo. Then, I looked closer, and saw that it wasn’t exactly trash that had piled up on the shore. Still, there’s something disturbing about the image: it suggests civilization trashing itself in a multitude of ways.

  4. This city seems to be a sad, worn & torn city, almost end times. The thing is, the first thing I saw was the shape of a heart in the foreground. So no matter how bad it looks my conclusion is there is still heart here.

  5. it has an ominous feel to it somehow and yet i have the feeling it was a beautiful scene when you looked on it in person
