Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. The pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.
Such sad eyes
Yes, that stroke me, too. But when I talked to them, they seemed be quite in good spirit…
Great shot Otto.
Thank you.
Splendid character portraits.
Thank you so much, Louis.
One looks mistrustful, the other looks bored.
I see that it could look that way. 🙂 Isn’t that the modus operandi for many kids these days.
Why I believe you’re right!
Interesting portraits, I see a bit of sadness and wariness, but they obviously responded positively to you, perhaps flattered to have their pictures taken. The fact that they could relax and let you take it, says something nice about you, too, Otto.
I am not sure if they were flattered, but they definitely enjoyed being photographed. This is maybe not the one they would be most happy with. But after taking a bunch of photos of them hugging each other and smiling to the photographer, I could commence with the ones I wanted to take.
Interesting! I’ve not yet gotten comfortable doing street portraits, so that’s a good tip.
they look like lost between two worlds. which is not necessarily in contradiction with “good spirit”.
Not it isn’t – and maybe they were a little lost.
her chest tattoo
Quite a tattoo.
I guess you didn’t have to worry about whether it was okay to take their pictures. They don’t look particularly thrilled about it but not hostile either. It’s a fine image.
It’s always a question, isn’t it. Whether or not to get consent. 🙂
Let me just add, that in this case I had their consent – and sent them some of the photos I took of them.
Ah, yes, what you said about getting to take the photos you wanted to take. They look young yet world-weary at the same time. A good study.
Thank you, Jane.
This is interesting this picture of the two ladies. Both expressed friendly feeling to just talk to for a little while.
Yes, we did have a fun time together while I photographed them.
I love way both girls are looking at the camera. They gave you a direct stare and I see some amusement in their expressions. I always want to know more…their age, what city you were in…Nice work!
They were an intriguing pair of young women. Thank you for the feedback, Debra.
Strong street scene………
Thank you, Sally.
duck face and leopard girl… i dig this picture, i’m sure they didn’t mind posing! great work, Otto!
They did have a good time. This one was off posing, though, after we did the usual fun photos. 🙂
I really like this carbonized, contrasty style for street portraits. It cuts into a a very basic level of life and the focus on the subject is really intensified. Great shots, poses, and characters! Very nice work.
And I like how you describe the style; carbonized and constrasty. Thank you, Phil.
I like how you are able to connect with your subject. It seems me one of the keys for a portrait. it’s a fabouolus photo. The surroundings, the dark tones and the eye contact add emotion. And a little bit of uncertainty.
Thank you for the lovely words, Robert. Much appreciated.
I love this photograph Otto, I agree with Robert, a beautiful subject to capture.
I am glad you like. Thanks a lot for the feedback.
It was a pleasure!
Another photo that is so full of stories, Otto. Beautiful.
Thank you.
