Last Week’s Instagram

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. The pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

  1. Interesting portraits, I see a bit of sadness and wariness, but they obviously responded positively to you, perhaps flattered to have their pictures taken. The fact that they could relax and let you take it, says something nice about you, too, Otto.

    1. I am not sure if they were flattered, but they definitely enjoyed being photographed. This is maybe not the one they would be most happy with. But after taking a bunch of photos of them hugging each other and smiling to the photographer, I could commence with the ones I wanted to take.

  2. I guess you didn’t have to worry about whether it was okay to take their pictures. They don’t look particularly thrilled about it but not hostile either. It’s a fine image.

  3. I love way both girls are looking at the camera. They gave you a direct stare and I see some amusement in their expressions. I always want to know more…their age, what city you were in…Nice work!

  4. I really like this carbonized, contrasty style for street portraits. It cuts into a a very basic level of life and the focus on the subject is really intensified. Great shots, poses, and characters! Very nice work.

  5. I like how you are able to connect with your subject. It seems me one of the keys for a portrait. it’s a fabouolus photo. The surroundings, the dark tones and the eye contact add emotion. And a little bit of uncertainty.
