Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. The pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.
what a wonderful frosty/foggy shot, Otto!
Thank you Lois.
The depth, the color, the movement. Impressive photo Otto!
Thank you so much.
Great shot, very moody
Thanks a lot, Beth.
Big Air Country. Looks like this skier is ready to take off and fly through the clouds. Great shot with lots of depth and sure enough lots of atmosphere.
It was quite amazing standing at the top of the run and feeling the whole world and the clouds way under you.
This is a riveting shot. And for me, a person that doesn’t downhill ski but has always wondered what it looks like from high up on the mountain…well…now I know why I don’t downhill ski!
I can understand your position. But it’s actually great fun. You just have to get used to it, one hill at a time. 🙂
I like the blue of the jacket and the green of the trousers chiming with the landscape, but oh, if only the shot had been taken a bit earlier, before the skier had gone past that distracting run to the left…..
I agree with you. What more is, I have that shot, except the skier doesn’t look good then. Unfortunately.
That is the way things go, sometimes!
Wao! Snow made in Alaska!
Or on site in Utah (or above). 🙂
👍
That looks a lo-o-o-ong way down! Scary biscuits!
It was a long way down. But all fun downhill – if you like that kind of stop.
Action and winter’s exhilaration captured together.
And fun combination for someone like me who enjoys both.
Love this! The clouds, the brightness of the skier’s clothes against the snow…
Thank you, Dale.
You are getting to some great locations. Like the bright colours and action!
Thanks for the feedback, Jane.
Great shot Otto! Makes me want to ski the big mountains. 🙂
What can say? It’s all so fun, isn’t it!
A nice movement feel from the picture.
Thank you.
Wonderful shot, it makes me wanting to go skiing again. Thank you for the share, Otto.
And thank you, Cornelia. I hope you get a chance.
Ah, wouldn’t that be nice.
Your image of a downhill run brought back some great sailing memories. There’s nothing better than running before the wind. It’s rarely possible in the Gulf of Mexico, but when I sailed from Hawaii to Alaska, we were under spinnaker for several days, and I expect the exhilaration we felt was akin to what your skier feels. I don’t know if skiers have a downhill run song, but sailors certainly do..
I could see the similarities between a downhill run and sailing with a strong tailwind. As for songs, I have never heard a downhill run song, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t exist.
I think a photo capable of making me shiver at the cold is an excellent example! I love the perspective, with the distance indicating how high the ski slope!
I hope the shiver didn’t make you uncomfortable, but rather made you want to try the run – or some other.
I have never been on skis, Otto! I have enjoyed being in the snow, such as it is in California, but never been skiing. But I admire those who do!
Maybe time to give it a try? 🙂
looking down on the clouds is always a little scary for me lol nice pic!
I always enjoy being above the clouds. Does that say something about me?…
it says ‘you’re brave!!’
The background has a watercolor look and feel that I love. Also the movement of the snow around the pant legs really draws the eye.
That’s why I chose this photo and not another one that was better composed. 🙂
an extraordinary action shot with a beautiful color palette
Thank you, Sherri. I am happy you like it.
Great shot, Otto. Love the pop of colour and the way you captured the motion.
I glad you like it. 🙂
