Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. Except for the technical details beneath the pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.
Facts about the photo: The photo was taken with a Lumix LX-100 with the lens set at 34 mm (the equivalent of a 75 mm for a full frame format). The photo was cropped, then transferred to my cell phone and processed with the Snapseed app with various adjustments before uploaded into Instagram.
What a great photograph – I can really relate to this cold, winter activity but you’ve make it look beautiful! You’ve so perfectly captured the slope of the road and hint of a mountain behind too.
I am glad you think so. Thank you for the feedback.
Your photos are always “standouts”! Nice.
Thank you, Ruth.
What a charming photo. Was this taken in Britain?
No, it was taken in Bergen, Norway. 🙂
I’m dreaming of Norway…
The quintessential Christmas scene. This is beautiful, Otto.
It does bring up the Christmas feeling, doesn’t it. Thank you, Lois.
I simply cannot stop looking at this beautiful photo! The fine detail you have captured is mesmerizing, thought provoking and postcard worthy. Merry Christmas Otto and thank you!!
Thank you, Kathryn, and Merry Christmas to you, too.
Brrr! A bit less cold where I am
Just a matter of wearing the right clothes. 🙂
Hmm, maybe….
Beautifully snowy and both calm and busy feeling in this charming photo. We have no snow so far…or we had, but as usual it is gone again.
Unfortunately, it’s suppose to rain over the weekend, so the snow will soon be gone, here too.
Hope for more next week then.
Looks beautiful! I hope to have a ‘white Christmas’ this year too. Will be in Stockholm in a few days 🙂
I hope your wish come true. At least Stockholm can be pretty cold around Christmas.
Enjoyed the clarity of the image, especially was drawn to the sky and roofs.
Maybe it’s a mountain and not the sky.
Thank you, Sally. It’s actually a bit of both, mostly mountains and then some sky. 🙂
Where winter looks good! The same activity on the streets of New York just wasn’t as rewarding, I have to say, so I’m glad I don’t have to do it any more. But you’ve made it all look beautiful here.
And for me it is beautiful – and I always love a proper snowfall, also when I lived in New York. 🙂
This is a beautiful photograph. It could easily be a Christmas card Bergen is a lovely place!
It is almost like a Christmas card, isn’t.
It would make a perfect Christmas card, I would enlarge that hang it on my wall.
I love the dynamism of this image: The fallen snow suggests quiet and stillness, but the (implied) motion of the man clearing off his car tells us this pastoral scene is about to be disrupted. Such a simple moment, but so wonderfully seen …
Snow always instill stillness. Sounds are muted and soft, indeed.
Some are more cold then others! You created something very pleasing to the eye, there is Bergen.
I like cold, particularly when it comes with snow.
We don’t have snow where I live and the older I get the happer I am about it. But I do like your photo. Perhaps it’s the age thing, again, Otto, but I could have done with that person spoiling the landscape.
Age or maybe just personal preferences. Thanks for the comment, Mary.
From the two sweeps across the hood of the car, I decided he was using a broom and not a scraper. “Broom snow” was a term I grew up with, and we always loved it because it was light and fluffy, and more easily disposed of than anything that came along with ice, or a high moisture content.
The cars are thoroughly modern, but the homes have an old-fashioned flair to them. It’s rather like Currier and Ives meets Car and Driver: a perfectly satisfying combination that makes for an interesting photo.
Broom snow, I have not heard that before, but I know exactly what you mean. It’s the best snow there is!
Lovely! But I am thankful I do not have to shovel snow off of my car right now… Brr!
Some pleasures come with a price. What else can I say?
I like your photo! It reminds me of hand-colored photos that were made when I was very young (in the late ’40’s and early ’50’s) before color film was the norm. It has that kind of tone. I love that “winter chill” I get from your photo, too. Brrr.
I agree with you. I does have some similarities with earlier colour films.
Truly a perfect Christmas scene, Otto.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you, Lisa. Same to you, of what is left if the weekend. 🙂
Brrr. I’m torn between thinking happy Christmas thoughts and wishing for spring 🙂
One thing at a time, I would say. 😉
Ah, digging out the car. Not my favorite winter activity, but you’ve made it look very attractive here. 🙂 I love the cheer of the yellow in the snowy, black and white world.
Thank you, León.
what a beautiful winter scene!! could be Norman Rockwell 🙂
That is a lovely complement. Thank you, Elaine.
So beautiful! 🙂
Thank you, Julie.
Brrrr! 😉
Only as cold as you clothing is…
Very true!
Lovely .. I can see this on a Chrissy card 😀 I’m a big fan of Snapseed!
Thank you, Julie. Yes, Snapseed is one of my favourites, too.
the result is fantastic
love, love those row houses
Thank you, Sherri.
I love the muted pops of colour in this one. I also appreciate the lovely peppering of snow. I’m afraid we are getting snowed under now.
Well, snow is fun or it can me a nuisance…
This is a splendid photo, Otto. The color in the buildings on the left contrasting with the relative monochrome of the rest of the scene, the street winding upward through the picture, and the very ordinary activity of the man cleaning his car — lovely.
Thank you, Nancy.
At first glance I’d say it was a painting. Beautiful.
Thank you.
