Last Week’s Instagram

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. Except for the technical details beneath the pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

Facts about the photo: The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 5D with the a 25-105 mm lens set at 105 (and further cropped). The photo was transferred to my cell phone and processed first with the Snapseed app with various adjustments before uploaded in Instagram and the filter Hefe added to the final image.

Marvellous, I can smell the place from here.

Essence of cold steel – light, sky, ships, sea. And then that slash of very delicious rust.

  3. This photo conveys so much – cold seas, working ships, modern technology supporting traditional methods. It’s a story in a frame!

My favorite place to photograph is down at the dock. Great photo, Otto.

  5. Splendid photo indeed! Merci Otto.

I especially like the two men on the bridge deck, for the sense of scale they provide. In addition, I enjoy being reminded that behind all that fantastic technology, there are people who control the work.

  7. It always amazes me that so much steel can float on water. Great capture, Otto! The sea looks so small in your photo — the ships are overwhelming in their scale.

  8. Elaine- says:

we had a CONCRETE boat! and it still floated lol all it has to do is weigh less than the water it displaces… are those paddle wheels i see? neat pic, Otto!

  9. Lisa Gordon says:

I love the lines and textures in this one, Otto.

I like the sense of industry, and what attractive colors!
