Last Week’s Instagram

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. Except for the technical details beneath the pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

Facts about the photo: The photo was taken with a Lumix LX-100 with the zoom lens set at 12.5 mm (the equivalent of a 28 mm for a full frame camera). The photo was transferred to my cell phone and processed first with the Snapseed app with various adjustments before uploaded in Instagram.

Brilliant photo : the scenery and sun rays, also for showing the times we live in, each to their own and in their own world, staring at FB!

  3. Vicki says:

Amazing photo and the light is perfectly captured.
    Love the composition too.
(as Paula says – each in their own world………..and of course, there just had to be someone looking at their iPhone?, despite the magnificence of the scene)

this reminds me of a picture i took as a teenager…. i got all my photography class mates to sit on a huge thing of steps like this, all facing away-ish from the camera, all in the same direction… of course, without photoshop it didn’t turn out the way i wanted it to haha

Wonderful light in this photo. I am surprised only one of them is sitting with his phone…Some are even in contact with each other – lovers(?) and father and child. Quite a good capture of people today. Only…as I said I am positively surprised. Or am I too negative about today’s people.

  6. YellowCable says:

I love the soft sunlight and a bit partially shaded. It looks like people just enjoy the great weather and the atmosphere there. Very nice capture!

  7. I love this shot, particularly because it reminded me of our visit in August. I was amazed by the number of people who just took a selfie (thus blocking out much of the stunning view) and left! Love the light.

  8. Miriam says:

What a wonderful capture of life. Very moody yet also peaceful and very ‘real’.

  9. lovely light and serenity.

  10. Seems a moment of meditation and just being with the day.

  11. very nice! and “The ambitious person knows that an escalator is not just something to stand on to be carried upward, but also a stairway to be climbed ” enjoy a great weekend All! 😉

Very interesting shot, how great that the guy close wore red. There’s a lot to see in this image, I spent a long time looking at all the aspects of it. Thanks for sharing.

I love this photo. It appears to be a perfectly staged tableau vivant, despite being quite spontaneous. It reminds me of the childhood game we called “statues.” At a given moment, everyone would freeze in position, and the one who maintained the position longest “won.” The ability of photography to freeze a moment in time is more than usually apparent here, I think.

  14. Sue says:

Beautiful light, lines and silhouettes…..and so much to see

  15. sherri says:

so many nice lines in this one

  16. bluebrightly says:

I like the sense of expansiveness here that seems to contrast with people just resting in the moment – there’s a feeling of timelessness.

  17. One of my favorites. I love the light, the perspective and composition, and the ‘slice of life’ capture. Beautiful!

  18. There is such depth in this photo….from the sky but also how far the eye can see past the immediate site where the people are sitting. It’s almost as if they are floating on a slab of concrete, moving through space.

  19. marymtf says:

Except for the seated man who seems out of place and too in focus, it looks like a painting to me. I love it.

  20. themofman says:

Fabulous texture of the steps revealed in the contrasting light.

  21. The lighting is striking. Interesting how oblivious the guy with the phone is to the beauty around him.

  22. A good slice of human life.oh yes, the guy with the phone , as well as people intereracting or just gazing. Like the variety of light from foreground to distance.

  23. OMG I love this shot! The possibilities for stories are endless!
