Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week (this photo is actually more than a week old, but I haven’t posted any new material the last week). It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. Except for the technical details beneath the pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.
Facts about the photo: The photo was taken with a Panasonic Lumix LX-100 with the lens set at 34 mm (the equivalent of a 75 mm full frame lens) and then further cropped. The photo was transferred to my cell phone and processed with the Snapseed app with various adjustments and filters in combination with Instagram’s Kelvin filter.
That’s a beautiful image.
Thank you, Mary.
great photos!
Thanks a lot, Courtney.
That’s a really beautiful image Otto!
Thank you for comment, Adrian (I know you are busy).
… and looks comfortably temperate. Jealous.
It would still be a cold plunge. 🙂
Oh, I like it! A nod to Hokusai….
I did think about Japan when I took the photo. 🙂
Great minds!!
You made a mirage, Otto. Love it.
Thank you, Tish.
your photo is for me like …”once upon a time…”…!!
That is a lovely comment. Thank you, Nina.
a never ending story !!
That is a stunning image. I could look at it all day.
Thank you for the lovely words, Michelle.
Love how the mountain appears to be “floating in the air” and the bird in the foreground gives some more perspective.Nice with the cool tones!
I am glad like it. Thank you, Jane.
Your wonderful photo has a Japanese feel about it, so delicate and simple with mount Fuji towering gently in the background. So stylish.
Somebody else indicated it, and I do think there is a Japanese feel about it. Thanks for the comment, Paula.
Beautifully done! I love the composition. 🙂
Thanks for the comment, Amy.
I love this photo! Looks as if it was painted, great 🙂
E.
Thanks a lot, Kamila.
Love the composition. There are many elements for the eyes to gaze around in the picture. The lone bird in the foreground, the closer mountains with houses and the far away and obscured high mountain top and the sky in the back. Very good!
Thank you for the lovely feedback.
Your image has that lovely serene Japanese feel that other commenters have mentioned. Especially with the snow-capped mountain in the background.
I’ve been off the blogosphere for a week or so and am wondering where this shot was made? You’ll have to excuse my poor short-term memory (if you’ve already mentioned this in a previous post).
I have not mentioned it before. The photos was captured in Seattle and shows Mount Rainier in the background. 🙂
Thanks Otto.
(It can be a issue for me….following too many blogs with a short-term memory problem. I can’t remember who said what in their previous post, OR what I said to a fellow blogger in replying to their comment).
That bird makes this photo so wonderful, Otto.
Thank you, Lois.
Hi Otto, I granted permission for my other site but don’t think you will find anything. I am in the process of making it a smaller site focusing on past travels and a place to keep those photos as an on-line backup. I have England , Panama and Rotterdam photos ready but haven’t loaded them yet. I like your photo from instagram, the heron adds much to it. 🙂
I’ll check out your site, anyway. I am happy to know that you like the photo. Thanks, Robert.
Japan came immediately to my mind. Great image, Otto
Thank you, Cornelia.
Well I’m thinking this is probably Mt. Rainer, but your treatment of the image makes it look like someplace in Japan.
And you are right about the mountain. Thanks for the comment, Linda.
What a beauty! 🙂 🙂 Wish I was there. Happy weekend, Otto!
Thank you, Jo. I hope you had a lovely weekend, too.
What a beautiful shot!
Peta
Glad you think so. Thank you, Peta.
What a refreshing image on this torrid morning. So arfully done. I’d hang that in a mediatation room.
I am happy if the photo can bring some inspiration. 🙂
I like the layers of depths in this image and how the mountain is floats.
Thank you, Linda.
Not “is floats”, it’s just floating 🙂
Very nice composition, Otto.
Thank you, Klaus.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
unmoved, the mountain
rises over human pain
waves wash and recede
Thank you for the lovely poem, Linda.
It’s driving me a little crazy trying to figure out just where you were for this one! I keep thinking it must be south of Seattle, like Tacoma, but I don’t think that’s right. I agree with the others who pointed out how much there is to look at, and how the heron brings you into the picture.
The photo was taking on the beach of Discovery Park, just south of the lighthouse. 🙂
Surprise! There are so many ins and outs along the water here, I couldn’t tell, but now it makes sense. I love the way the mountain is covered by mist at the bottom, and all the elements – the mountain, that tree, the heron – are balanced so well.
Great Photo!
Thank you, Roland.
wow!! what a great picture! i love herons, and they are so hard to catch on film! not film, you know, they fly away the moment you move! and that mountain! just wow!
It was easier this time, since I didn’t try to capture it on film. 🙂
i’m showing my age lol
Well, I am probably beating your there. 🙂
i don’t recall seeing your selfie, so i can’t say… i’ve stopped taking selfies haha
This is an excellent photograph, Otto… The heron is a majestic appearance. Also I like how we can almost “feel” the little ripples on the water!… Great! … Wishing you the best!. ⭐ Have a wonderful week ahead!
Thank you, Aquileana. Likewise. 🙂
This is great, Otto, and I love the processing you did on it.
Thank you, Lisa.
I like the processing of this image, Otto. Looks a bit like Mount Fuji but it’s the wrong side of the Pacific of course! I recently had to replace my Canon G10 and bought a Lumix LX100 and I’m delighted with it – the lens is wider and shorter than the one on the Canon so It’s changing the way I shoot and the images are crisp. In fact for the last six weeks of shot only on the Lumix – helping me to get used to it.
The Lumix is a great camera isn’t it. Relatively compact and high quality. Thanks for the comment, Andy.
