Last Week’s Instagram

munchow_1799-002_e2

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. Except for the technical details beneath the pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

Facts about the photo: It was captured with my Lumix LX-100 with the lens sett at 34 mm (the equivalent of 75 mm full frame lens), exposure at 1/2510 s and f/5.6. The photo was then transferred to my cell phone and processed in Snapseed with the filter Grunge.

The contrast between the quite modern sailboats, with their modern rigging, and the old houses, churches, and other buildings is quite striking. It’s as though we’ve sailed back in time, and moored up against a history that’s only half-remembered. The processing certainly heightens the effect.

  17. Very interesting mood, you converted your image into.

  18. I really like the grunge filter in Snapseed. Can do some wonderful things to an image and it was used just perfectly for this image.

It certainly has a vintage quality that is very appealing, Otto. I have an old postcard collection that belonged to my grandmother, and this photo reminds me of some of the older travel postcards. Very nice!

  23. I think I already said this but I’m always fascinated how very modern technologies are used to produce an “antique” looking image. It’s something great in the right hands, as yours.
