Last Week’s Instagram

Once a week—or every so often—I will display one of my photos captured and/or processed with Instagram over the last week. It’s a way for me to show photography that usually is quite different from my regular work. Except for the technical details beneath the pictures are displayed without any comments, hoping they will stand on their own. But I still very much appreciate any comments you may have.

Facts about the photo: It was captured with a Lumix LX-100 sett at the equivalent of a 24 mm lens, 1/60 s and f/1.7, transferred to my cell phone and then processed with the app Pixlr-o-matic with the filter Hagrid and the frame Sloppy.

  1. I thought at first it was the reflection of fountains playing in the dark glass of the big building, but I’ve decided it’s actually a bridge. I like the contrast in lights — some yellow, some a purer white. In the midst of it all, that concrete planter to the left of the person in the blue jacket looks like a canoe, trying to find it’s way through a river of people.

  2. those cranes towering over a city look like mechanical dinosaurs 🙂 i’m back, Otto… to try posting 3 times a week and see how that goes!

  3. Dynamic and vital. I like the balance of the evening sky with the lights of the city. Despite all the activity, there’s still something peaceful about it…perhaps just the time of day. Or maybe it’s just me!

  4. I was struggling with how to comment on what most impresses me, until I read Tommy’s comment. It is the foreground that adds an interesting perspective. The people stand out so dynamically against the strength of the beautiful structures. This is a really fabulous photo!

  5. Very, very nice, Otto. Love the reflections and your post-processing. What setting do you shoot with most on the Lumix? I am finding that I shoot on IA or A most often (for street shots etc). When I shoot in P, the ISO is way off. Not sure why. I always shoot in Manual with my D800, however, I’m not there yet with the Lumix. Regardless, I am loving the results.
