Monica Amberger took my eWorkshop earlier this summer and showed some excellent work during the eight weeks the workshop lasted. She is a very talented photographer who prefers so shoot in Mother Nature. There Monica captures everything from vigorous wildlife and animals in their natural habitat to gorgeous tableau and sceneries mostly in her beloved Swedish forest landscape. During the workshop, Monica also showed some fun picture of almost life-size dolls she has made herself, captured in lifelike situations. Very playful and humorous.

Still for the presentation here, I chose to show some of her more quiet images, all capturing the ambience of that beautiful Swedish landscape. There is a simplicity to this work that encourage contemplation and reflection. If the viewer let herself or himself into these images, they will find a peaceful place and a grounding that most of us have lost with our urban life style. Just let go of everything else and enjoy Monica’s pictures. Find the stillness in you that resonate with Monica’s images. For more of her work, look up her blog, M Amberger fotoblogg.

By the way, I plan to start another eWorkshop sometime in January. I will soon get back with more information.

  1. Le foto di Monica sono fantastiche, ho anche guardato il suo blog e le faccio veramente di cuore tantissimi complimenti, è bravissima.
Un caro saluto a Monica e uno grande grande a te caro Otto.
    Ciao, Patrizia

  2. Excellent! OMG this is seriously good, the first four ones have a deep calming effect. I think I’d drop the last one in this presentation to make it look more “complete”. On the other hand, the movements in the last one brings out the contrast and make me appreciate the first ones even more, I think.
Well done, Monica! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend.
Ha en god helg, Otto! 🙂

  3. Wunderschöne Bilder ich wünsche einen schönen Tag und einen schönen ersten Advent liebe Grüße von mir.Gislinde

  4. i love the ones with the mist, i remember one morning i was up super early with a thick fog, this was before digital, and i went out in my car in search of a good subject, and i found and old old little stone church with an ancient graveyard in it, i took the most awesome pics and couldn’t believe my good fortune, but i don’t know where those pics went, but every time i see good pics with a fog, i’m taken back to that misty morning

  5. I love these photos of Monica’s that you’ve shared here. This sort of photography is close to my own heart. I love the simple serenity and natural beauty she’s captured here.

  6. Stunning work! Amazing! We live in such a beautiful world. I have been enjoying the book, “Reclaiming the Wild Soul,” by author Mary Reynolds Thompson. The author has ridden pigs in Positano, trekked the Himalayas, and been battered by the winds of Patagonia. Her passion for nature infuses every page of this book as she weaves her own story with those of her clients and the voice of the Earth herself.

  8. LOVE these! Monica captures the mist and water’s stillness and serenity perfectly in her photos — so well, in fact, that as a viewer, I just want to sit back and let their stillness and serenity simply wash over me.

  9. I definitely agree with your title “Muted Contemplation.” What beautiful settings for some tremendously well composed photographs. Each one is gorgeous, but I really love the first one. Monica is very talented!

  10. Really really beautiful, she has great talent. Thanks for sharing her work, It’s always a pleasure to discover a new and talented photographer. I’ll go visit her blog for sure 🙂
