Glitter and Finery

Over the last month or so I have been awarded numeral times by many of my blogger-friends. It’s quite an inspiration to feel so appreciated. At the same time the tokens of appreciation arouse a feeling of both humbleness and thankfulness. Because I think it’s a combination of interaction and sharing that makes our blogs become what they are. No blog exists in a vacuum (except maybe right when you start up and before people notice the blog’s existence), but is spurred forward by the whole blog community. We comment each other and we inspire each other and we help each other so that each of us is able to bring out the best of ourselves and the visions or ideas we bring into the blogging sphere. So these awards I have been nominated for are just as much a result of all your work and support.

Now to the individual awards: photographybyjoylene has nominated me for the Sunshine Award. Thank you very much. She has an excellent blog herself, so please look it up.

The award has some guidelines to be followed.
1. Include the logo in a post on your blog.
2. Answer 10 questions about yourself.
3. Nominate 10-12 marvelous bloggers.
4. Let your nominees knows about their award by linking them to the Sunshine Award in their comments sections.
5. Share the love and link the person who nominated you!

The answers to the 10 questions are:
Favorite Colour: I don’t really have a favourite colour. It’s more colour combinations. Like blue and yellow at the moment.
Favorite Animal: Bear
Favorite Number: √-1
Favorite Drink: Laphroaig, Habana Club and milk
Facebook or Twitter: Facebook. I don’t have a Twitter account.
Your Passion: Family and friends, photography, travel, music, literature, training, sunshine.
Giving or Receiving Gifts: Both.
Favorite Day: Today
Favorite Flower: Tulip
Favorite Pattern: Don’t have

And my nominees are:
marijato skovic
Zen and Genki
The Voice From The North
Slightly Me
Photographica
the lazy photographer
katie’s camera blog
Empire of Lights
Fine art photography by Kala
gamaraca

Niasunset has nominated me with a beautiful award. I am deeply honoured by this special award. Thank you Nia. I have presented her blog before, but if you aren’t reading already, do look it up. To the award – and as Nia says on her blog: The Angelika Award is for those who have touched my humble life, like a book, like a teacher, like a master. To read more about the background of the award, please have a look at Angelika Award.

My nominated angels are:
island traveler
Elenacaravela’s Blog
Fabulous 50’s
Silkpurseproductions’s Blog
Being Arindam
Wondering Rose

From mylunchanddinner I have been nominated with the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Thank you very much. She has a interesting blog about various themes, but most of all about food, I think it’s right to say. Also An Evil Nymph’s Blog nominated me for this award. She is a very young blogger with a lot on her heart. Check it up! According to the rules of the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, the nominee needs to unveil seven interesting things about him- or herself and pass the award on to seven fellow bloggers.

Seven things about myself:
It’s been at least five years since last time I danced. I need to do something about that…
My favourite reading at the moment is The Magus by John Fowles.
I am not sure which team is my favourite to win the UEFA Championship, Chelsea or Bayern München.
I love sunshine (but I like the rain as a contrast to be able to appreciate the sun even more).
My life is split between living in Bergen (one of the rainiest cities in Norway) and Seattle (one of the rainiest cities in the States).
I think politics are very important, but I have lost trust in most politicians.
For me greed is one of the worst and most unacceptable personal qualities.

My nominees for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award are:
Mein Bild des Tages
Martina Egli
ManoliRizoFotografia
Totally Like me…
In Other Words and Pictures
NYLON DAZE
Zeebra Designs & Destinations

Autumn Sunshine nominated me for the Commenter Award. Thank you! This award is a little different than others. We are to nominate the first six people that comment the most on our blog and then choose another one, the seventh, as to our liking (it could be someone that commented the last, a new blogger, or someone whom we really enjoy their comments). We also have to say why we have chosen him/her.

To find your top 6, go to your Dashboard, then to Site Stats (on the bottom, right corner). If you do not see this, click on the Screen Options in the top, right corner, and be sure that “Comments” is checked. If you are good about responding to every comment, then you will be the first one in the list. It is the next six commenters on the list that you will nominate and pass this award to. The seventh, as I said, could be anyone. For me it was the seventh on my commentator list, one that has been among the top on and off..

My top commentators are (and some of them have been awarded already here today):
island traveler
Niasunset
Wondering Rose
Zeebra Designs & Destinations
Three Well Being
Elenacaravela’s Blog
Being Arindam

In addition to these awards, I have been nominated to a few other awards. Since I have already been nominated for these, I will bypass the rules and tasks that goes along with the awards, but I will still to thank the bloggers who nominated me, and direct the rest of you to their blogs. High Needs nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award, and so did The Dainty Damsel. Finally An Evil Nymph’s Blog has nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award in addition to the aforementioned Very Inspiring Blogger Award.

The last award is a very special one. It’s for all you who has been patient enough to read this far. BASED ON A TRUE STORY/Currie Rose made me aware of this one when she posted it on her blog. It’s called the The Wobbly Fish Award. This award is for all of you who are having a wobbly, who are feeling wobbly, who like wobbly things, or who simply fancy a wobbly award on your blog. You are also very much entitled to this award if you are a Piscean person – their symbol being the fish. Jude from The Writer in the Woods created this award.

Rules are simple:
1. Don’t send it on to other bloggers – because they can all award it to themselves.
2. Send a kind wobbly fish thought to someone you know who could do with it.
3. Smile whenever you look at your wobbly fish!
4. Download the image if you would like the award for your blog.

  1. Wow, that was inspiring…I will make sure to look up some that you have nominated!

  2. Wow, Otto, how is it to have overview over all these blog nominations, it couldn’t have been easy. Congratulations, you really deserve it. 🙂 And by the way; there are blogs that exists in a vacuum. At least mine did, before I learned how to communicate, and I could not understand why nobody “liked” my excellent posts, he he. 😉

  3. Wow, lots of congratulations go to you, and for good reason. Greet job on the awards, and lots of kudos on your well-thought out announcements. I love the way your arranged this post to fit everything in. Great job!

  4. well doesn’t the zeebra feel special! i thought of you today when i had another ‘it’s not what you have planned for the day, but what the day has planned for you’ kind of day! i abandoned my painting frenzy to ride shotgun to a friend’s farm, where picks up the queso fresco each friday. after we turned off the blacktop, we drove one hour down 4wd roads through rivers and riachuelas until finally we reached the end of a road. it was like being in a time warp 100 years back! horses with wooden saddles tied to posts; mules with double wooden boxes strapped across saddles (to haul the queso from farms further afield) , workers in black plastic mud boots with sparkling spurs strapped to their heels, men sitting in shadows and watching the hot-shot farmer roll into town in his pickup, bamboo fences, rolling hills, roosters strutting through the village, and no sign of another woman!

with camera in hand, i all but soared around the tiny pueblito! the sun was bashful so the photos weren’t the best, but on the way out the sun shone in its glory! xavier gave a worker some money and sent for colas for everyone. he returned with two – the store had no more! as is the custom, everyone shared the two bottles, though i luckily got first dibs then began photographing the saddles.

on the way back to civilization, i hung out the window as we zoomed past photo moments. i grinned at my friend and said, ‘there’s a future post about this trip!’

wow! i just thought my cup runneth over with the road trip, but i returned home to read your post and soared a bit more!

thanks so much! if tonight’s sky seems a bit too bright for the waxing moon, it’s because my smile is illuminating the entire planet!

      1. if the zeebra-rock special package has not arrived yet, i suspect there’s a problem, houston! i confess that i sent two – seemed cruel to send one all by itself on its first journey across an ocean.. i think the two rocks got into some mischief! what a story they’ll have to tell if/when they arrive at your doorstep! z

        1. I was wondering about that. But of course the question is where you sent the zeebra-rock. To Norway or to the States? Because the last month or so I have been in the States. Two you say? That is fun. And I am sure they eventually will be able to tell their story. I’ll be back in Norway in about a fortnight.

          1. They wanted to go to Norway! Surely they’ll be ready for some fresh air when you get home! The show opens in a fortnight; each person who attends the opening will receive a z rock. great timing – you’ll receive yours about the same time as everyone else! Z

  5. Congratulations for all these beautiful awards dear Otto, you always deserve awards… You are such a beautiful photographer and person, you share with use everything about photography. Thank you so much, it is great honor for me to meet you and to be your blogger friend. with my love, nia

My award to you is the I’m Glad I Found You Award. It is awarded to the person who has provided me with inspiration, knowledge, and a blog that I look forward to reading every time you post. I think you actually found me and left me some nice comments on my blog. I thank you for that. Thank you my friend. I look for to more great words.

  7. Congrats on getting so many well deserved awards. It was great to know more about you through this post. You last danced five years ago; really! Then you must have to do something about that one. 🙂
I am glad to be among your top commentators. And thanks a lot for passing on the awards to my blog. This means a lot to me. 🙂

  8. The Wobbly Fish Award is so fun! I’m a Pisces, so I suppose at some point I will claim it! I’m also surprised to be one of your highest commenters, but that’s tangible proof that I do read and appreciate your blog. I think you are most deserving of these awards. I hope I can carve out some time to visit many of your favorites listed here…it does take some time to keep up with them all, doesn’t it! 🙂 Debra

  9. Hi Munchow! It was fun reading that you’ve been awarded so many. Firstly, I like the name “Munchow”, somehow makes me feel hungry & want to drink one of those “Munchow” soups 😉 Just kidding. I shall look into more of your photography posts, and let you know my take on them.

    1. Maybe I should sell my name to appropriate brand? On second thoughts I am not sure the rest of the family would approve…

  10. How very gracious you are, Otto. Your blog is always an inspiration and as a commenter, you are kind and insightful. These awards are rightfully yours. Congratulations! And, thank you so very much for your nominations. I’m humbled.

  11. Otto – You’ve made me very happy today! To know that I’ve touched your life gives me much pleasure! I feel like I know you…without having met you. And I hope to meet you some day!! Because I am leaving tomorrow for Africa, I won’t have time to respond to this until I return. Thank you again! (hugs and xoxoxo) ~Sherry~

  12. Congratulations Otto. When I created The Angelika Award it was as a way to acknowledge how apart of the blogging community had inspired and influenced my students and myself as a teacher. Of course it took wing and flew out beyond my blog; Nia is an amazing person who spreads sincerity & love with her posts and comments. So glad that you have received this honour. Thanks for including a link to the first Angelika post, it is much appreciated. 🙂

  13. Congratulations again Otto! All of your awards are well earned and you are so gracious to acknowledge and pass them on to well deserving bloggers 🙂 🙂 🙂

  14. Congratulations my friend. You are indeed an inspiration to all of us. Thank you for sharing these awards. I have not receive the “Angelika” and “Commenter” Award before and I’m really excited to get them. You are blessed with so many talents. Thanks for sharing your sunshine with all of us.

  15. That is an unbelievable amount of awards. Congratulations! Unbelievable that you love the sunshine yet live in two of the wettest cities in the world! I’ve never heard of the wobbly award! xx

  16. *clap-clap-clap* Awesome, and all well deserved awards to a fine teacher. Had to chuckle about your fave drink, Laphroaig, because I thought it was some kind of tea and found it is nothing like tea! Hope you get to do something about your dancing . . . lol! 🙂

  17. Otto,
Congratulations on all your well deserved awards.
Thank you so much for including me amongst your “Angelika Awards”. You have been a great inspiration to me and I do appreciate it.

  18. Good gracious Otto what a lovely surprise to come late to the party and see that I was one of the special guests. My apologies for being so late. Many many thanks for the lovely award. I’m honored to know I’ve touched your life. You’ve really touched mine, and as you can see from all the above comments, I’m not alone.

I’m also interested to see that I’m among your top commenters. Even though I struggle to keep up with all the reading I get here eventually. I hope your travels will bring you to S. California one of these days. I’d love it if you came to my cash register and asked me some dumb question 🙂

  19. I know katie’s camera blog. I’ve been inspired by her a lot! 🙂

I may check another blogs later. 🙂 Thanks for this inspiring blog. 🙂

  20. Muchas felicidades por sus premios, muy merecidos y gracias por acordarse de mí, acabo de subir el post, de nuevo darle las gracias, saludos

A lot of congratulations for his prizes, very just deserts and graces for remembering me, I have just raised the post, again thank him, regards

  21. You deserve every award, Otto. My only fear is that complying with the rules of all the awards you receive will consume all your time! I need to take a day to do what you did in this post (use one post to comply with the rues of several awards). Congratulations!
